Drug Prevention and information
The aim of the programme is to significantly reduce the social harm and health damage caused by the use of and trade in, illicit drugs. The programme builds on the EUs Drugs Strategy and Action plans. The general objectives of the Programme are to:
to prevent and reduce drug use, dependence and drug-related harms;
to contribute to the improvement of information on drug use;
to support the implementation of the EU Drugs Strategy;
Special attention should be paid to the prevention of drug use among young people who are the most vulnerable in the population. The main challenge is to encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyles.
Target group:
The target groups of the programme's activities are all those who may be affected by the consequences of drug use, including:
young people, pregnant women, vulnerable groups and people living in socially disadvantaged areas.
other target groups are, inter alia, teachers and educational staff, parents, social workers, local and national authorities, medical and paramedical staff, judicial staff, law enforcement and penitentiary authorities, NGOs, trade unions and religious communities.
Who can apply?
non-profit organisations, constituted in accordance with the law of one of the EU Member States;
public or private organisations and institutions (local authorities at the relevant level, university departments and research centres) working in the area of information and prevention of drug use, including the reduction and treatment of drug-related harm;
the aims of their activities must include one or more of the objectives of the Specific Programme Drug Prevention and Information.
projects must involve organisations from at least 2 EU Member States or EFTA/EEA countries and must have a duration of between 12 and 24 months.
Eligible countries are:
27 Member States
EFTA States which are party to the EEA agreement (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
Candidate countries and the Western Balkan countries in accordance with the conditions laid down in the association agreements. Candidate countries, third countries or international organisations not participating in the programme may be associated with projects.
Budget:
The Commission will finance a maximum of 80% of the eligible costs. The maximum individual grant amount is EUR 100.000.
